ABOUT ME

Tonya Strong-Charles is the president and CEO of Strong One Media, LLC.

An award-winning broadcast journalist, news manager and communications strategist, Tonya has served as a national network anchor for NBC News, where she was assigned to “NBC Nightside,” an overnight national and international broadcast. She has also held positions as a local news anchor and reporter in Cleveland, Dayton, and Akron. Tonya has received public service and industry recognition for her coverage of healthcare, family-focused features, politics, and breaking news. She is the recipient of an Emmy award for “Best Anchor” in the Great Lakes region. One of her career highlights was having the opportunity to appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Her career includes successful stints as a higher education media relations strategist for both Syracuse University and John Carroll University. Tonya is actively involved in the Greater Cleveland community, and is a board member of The Haven Home, which is Cuyahoga County’s temporary overPlow shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, and the Greater Cleveland Association of Black Journalists where she initiated the philanthropy committee with the goal of connecting local journalists of color to the nonprofit community.  Tonya is a proud graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
